McKendree Spring
In 1976, after 7 albums and years of worldwide touring, McKendree Spring individually ventured to further their creative aspirations
in media and music.
The New York Village Voice called Michael 'Doc' Dreyfus' 'God Bless the Conspiracy'
"the most original use of the electric violin we've heard." In 1994
and 1997, while in Residence at the Cleveland Institute of Music he composed
with the Cavani String Quartet 'Ignition' on DFA Records. His awards include
the National Addy and the Clio and is profiled in Who's Who in Entertainment.
A new collection of his wild and wholly hits, 'Nice and Queasy', is due from
DFA Records in spring of 2006.
Lead gutarist Marty Slutsky went on to be the executive producer for the past two presidential debates as well as a technical
manager for ABC, NBC, Discovery and FOX. He has won seven Emmy awards for technical
excellence in the 1988 and 2002 Winter Olympic Games, 1989 New York Marathon,
1989 World Series and is still securing all technical aspects of countless television
productions.
Vocalist-guitarist Fran McKendree was signed by Clive Davis to Arista Records
where he released two singles, one that made it into the top ten in Canada where
he was living at the time. Fran notably played with Jimmy Cliff in Central Park,
NY and at the Tanglewood Music Festival and recorded with great session players,
including the late Larrie London (who played with Elvis) and Bob Mann on guitar.
Fran has continued to record and produce in his home studio, as well as touring,
keynoting conferences and leading workshops. He has resided since 1997 with
his wife, Diana, in western North Carolina. Fran, Michael and Marty are thrilled
to be re-uniting after 30 years, for this show at the Beachland. They have continued
to receive emails and notes from fans all over the world and are hoping fans
and friends, old and new, will find their way to Cleveland for this exciting
show.
